The History of Advantage Home Care

Today there are various care delivery options available for seniors but many, like my own mother, prefer to remain independent in their homes. I am very fortunate to now be in a position to make that happen for my clients. My business experience in educational publishing and background as a teacher of the handicapped has enhanced my expertise and ability to build this organization of caring, well-trained providers.

Advantage Home Care is built from experience and exceeds traditional expectations of a home care provider. In addition to providing assistance that maintains safety and lifestyle, we focus on developing the trust for a client and family that cultivates peace of mind in accepting a caregiver into a living situation.

What I Did With What I Learned

The criterion I use to hire and place a caregiver is always based upon one simple but imperative question: Would I send this person to care for my own mother? The answer must always be “yes”. This means that each person I send out has been thoroughly screened and trained to provide the highest quality of care. The process is comprehensive and includes drug screening, background check, credit check, reference check, and multiple personal interviews. Through this process I identify quality caregivers with a deep respect for, and love working with, seniors.

As the founder and President, I am ultimately responsible for my clients’ care and constantly work to continue the highest quality. I maintain a high level of staff supervision in the field. The commitment to client safety and quality care is the foundation of my business. I initiate frequent client contacts to insure care goals are being met. My staff receives mandatory ongoing training to constantly enhance quality of care throughout the assignment. We also employ a third party provider to regularly survey our clients to insure the highest level of care.

Compatibility between caregiver and client is imperative. To insure a good fit, the backgrounds and personalities of both are matched as closely as possible to cultivate a personal and meaningful relationship. This beneficially affects client attitudes about receiving care, establishes trust, and offers emotional relief to family members.
